Bahrain plans major tourism push this year

Bahrain is looking to expedite tourism plans this year as the government signs the multi-billion-dollar transportation infrastructure development project and Manama unveils its 2013 Arab Capital of Tourism calendar of events.
The country’s proximity to Saudi Arabia, business history and international sporting and leisure attractions remain key factors in driving future tourist arrivals.
The kingdom will have a strong presence at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) this year which runs from May 6-9 in Dubai.
In another development, World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) revealed Bahrain’s travel and tourism sector is on track to contribute 17.4% to GDP by 2021.
